PIMS hosted Curriculum implementation support program (CISP), a 3-day workshop from 6th May to 8th May 2019, under the aegis of MCI Nodal Centre for faculty development, CMC Ludhiana. Around 12 hours of Workshop have been credited by Punjab Medical Council to Punjab institution of medical sciences (PIMS). Workshop was regarding changes in pattern of syllabus of MBBS students under the guidelines of Medical Council of India (MCI). Workshop was organized for teachers to update them with new pattern of syllabus which will be implemented for all the batches of MBBS students. This is one of the first workshop organized in PIMS under CMC Ludhiana. CME was inaugurated with a lamp lighting ceremony by PIMS Director Principal Dr. Kulbir Kaur, Dr. Rajiv Arora (Vice-Principal) and Dr. G.S. Joneja (Medical superintendent) along with other guest. PIMS’s Resident Director Mr. Amit Singh and Dr. Kapil Gupta President of Punjab Medical Council were also present at this workshop.
On this occasion, Dr. Kulbir Kaur (Director Principal) said, According to new guidelines of MCI, MBBS students will be introduced to the all the subjects in 1st year that they are going to take up in next 5 years of course. Subjects related to all the departments will be taught in 1st year and special Curriculum will be prepared accordingly which subject to be introduced when. She further told that earlier only 3 subjects were taught in first year but now all the subject will be taught in first year, it will help students to build up their basics and interest in all subjects.
In this workshop Dr. Seema Bandhu, Dr. Jagminder Bajaj, Dr. Amarjit Vij introduced new teaching learning methods. Entire Faculty of PIMS took active participation in workshop and discuss the new curriculum
