CME on ‘Rheumatology Updates’ was organized in PIMS by the Department of Medicine. The CME aimed at enriching the delegates with the latest research and technology in Rheumatology and to create awareness among the masses about the subject. At the meet, Dr Ashok Kumar, Director & Head, Department of Rheumatology, Fortis Flt Lt Rajan Dhall Hospital, New Delhi addressed the delegates saying that lack of adequate knowledge and awareness has been the most common cause of ignorance about the disease among the public. Furthermore, he said that Arthritis is not just confined to joints but can also affect various organs of the body. Dr. A.N. Mealaviya, former HOD, Medicine & Chief of Clinical Immunology & Rheumatology services, AIIMS spoke on pattern recognition for making a diagnosis of joint diseases. A talk on management of inflammatory diseases was delivered by Dr. Rohin Handa, Senior Consultant Rheumatologist at Apollo Indraprasth Hospitals New Delhi. The pitfalls in the practice of Rheumatology were shared by Dr. Jitender Maheshwari, Joint Replacement & Orthopaedic Surgeon. Followed by a talk by Dr. Aman Sharma, Additional Professor, Rheumatology and HIV wing, PGI where he shared the challenges faced by medical professionals in diagnosis and management of SLE. The deep thought to the chronic disorder, Fibromyalgia was presented by Dr. Prashant Aggarwal, Consultant Rheumatologist & Immunologist, Punjab Rheumatology Clinic, Ludhiana. Subsequently, a case based discussion on ten topics in Paediatric Rheumatology was led by Dr. Sujata Sawhney, Paediatric Rheumatologist at Sir Ganga Ram hospital New Delhi.
