CME on “OBG Update 2015”

A scientific meet “OBG Update 2015” was organised by Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department, PIMS, in collaboration with Federation of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Societies of India (FOGSI, Jalandhar Chapter) at Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences on 12th September 2015 with an endeavour to highlight the recent advances in the diagnosis and management of various conditions in the fields of Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Infertility and Gynae-Oncology.

The scientific programme started with a free paper communication by various doctors from all across the state followed by an absorbing presentation by Dr. Jasmine Dahiya (NOVA IVI, Jalandhar) on IVF as an alternative to Tuboplasty. Further, Dr. Shally Magon (PIMS, Jal.) apprised the audience about the effect of antioxidants in infertility. The second session opened with an engrossing lecture by Dr. Sujata Sharma (Prof & HOD, GMC, Amritsar) who presented the recent guidelines in Gestational Diabetes. Adding to it, Dr. Pooja Sikka(PGIMER, Chandigarh) sensitised the doctors with the recent guidelines in PIH. Furthermore, Dr. Anita Pal (IGMC, Shimla) and Dr.Alka Sehgal(Prof. GMCH, Chandigarh) discussed about the term breech through vaginal delivery and LSCS. The closing session began with an informative presentation on Asymptomatic Fibroids by Dr. Santosh Minhas (Prof.& Head, IGMC, Shimla). In addition, Dr.Vanita Suri (Prof & HOD, PGIMER, Chandigarh) presented updates on HPV vaccine. The session concluded with a lecture presentation on Prophylactic Salpingectomy by Dr.ShaliniGainder (PGIMER, Chandigarh)
