With intent to enhance the knowledge and skills in order to keep pace with the evolving trends in the field of healthcare technologies, the department of Pathology, PIMS organized ‘ Midterm CME- Update in Cytology and Histopathology’ along with poster presentation held on 28th March 2015. The session was inaugurated with the lightening of lamp by Resident Director, PIMS. The session commenced with a presentation on ‘Approach to Granulomatous lesions of skin’ by Professor Harsh Mohan, GMC & H, Chandigarh followed by latest update on ‘Interesting Cases’ presented by Dr. Usha Bandlish , Professor & Head, Dept of Pathology, PIMS. Parallelly, the poster presentation evaluation was done by Dr. Harsh Mohan and Dr. Amarjit Singh. After a short tea break, Professor A. Rajwanshi, Cytopatholgy, PGI, Chandigarh explained about the ‘Different ancillary techniques as applied to cytology’. Subsequently, Dr. Neena Sood, Dept. of Pathology, DMC & H, Ludhiana shared her views on ‘Interpretation of Colonic Biopsies’. The session was then taken forward by Professor Pranab Dey, Cytopathology, PGI, Chandigarh by giving a brief introduction on ‘Pathology of Placenta’. Post lunch the session was continued by Professor Dr. Kusum Joshi, Histopath, PGI, Chandigarh by illustrating few examples on ‘Interesting cases of Renal Pathology. The last presentation of the session was delivered by Dr. Nalini Gupta, Ad Prof. Cytopath, PGI, Chandigarh on ‘Liquid based Cytology’. The session ended with a valedictory function.
